Delhi Pollution Control Committee

  • The Delhi Pollution Control Committee (DPCC) is the regulatory body responsible for monitoring, controlling, and preventing pollution in the National Capital Territory (NCT) of Delhi. The Central Pollution Control Board has delegated all its powers and function relating to state pollution control Board to DPCC.
  • DPCC is an organization with the main motto to create awareness about sustainable development by ensuring improvement in the environment quality of the National Capital Region through the contribution of all the stakeholders. It acts as a State Pollution Control Board for Delhi and is responsible for implementing environmental laws, preventing pollution, and ensuring sustainable development in the city.

Establishment & Role of DPCC

  • Constituted under the Water (Prevention & Control of Pollution) Act, 1974 and the Air (Prevention & Control of Pollution) Act, 1981.
  • Acts as a State Pollution Control Board (SPCB) for Delhi.
  • Responsible for implementing environmental laws, rules, and notifications issued by the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEF&CC) and CPCB.
